How this started
Finding My Three-Wheeled Sweet Spot: Moving from E-Bike to E-Trike at 70. For the past couple of years, my electric bike was my ultimate ticket to outdoor freedom. It kept me moving, let me enjoy the fresh air, and provided a fantastic way to get a workout without overly taxing my joints. But as a 70-year-old body naturally demands a bit more care, balance, and stability, I realized I needed to adjust my routine. I wanted the absolute best low-impact exercise possible—something that would protect my knees and hips while keeping the thrill of the open road alive. That is what led me to make the switch to an electric trike. Transitioning from a traditional two-wheel e-bike to an e-trike has been an absolute game-changer. The very first thing you notice is the complete elimination of balance anxiety. There is no more bracing yourself at red lights or worrying about loose gravel on the path. The three-wheel design offers a rock-solid, stable platform that lets me focus entirely on the joy of movement. It provides a steady, continuous lower-body workout that keeps my joints loose and muscles engaged, all while the electric assist ensures I never overextend myself or strain my heart. Trading two wheels for three hasn’t meant slowing down; it has meant riding with newfound confidence. If you are looking for a way to stay active, independent, and completely stable while giving your joints a break, the e-trike might just be your perfect fit too.
What I believe about this
I'm not a doctor. I'm not a physical therapist. I'm not a fitness influencer. I'm a 70-year-old retired Pastor from Jacksonville, Florida who found something that worked and wants to tell other people about it.
The e-trike gets a lot of eye-rolls from people who think the electric assist is cheating. I used to worry about that. I don't anymore. Cheating compared to what? Sitting on the couch? The motor is why I can ride at all. The motor is why my knees don't hurt the next day. The motor is the whole point.
This blog is for people who are in the place I was in — who've been told to slow down, or who feel like their body is negotiating different terms than it used to, or who just want to keep moving and aren't sure how. I write about what I know from experience, not from a textbook. I try to be honest about what's hard and what's worth it.
What you'll find here
Honest over polished
I write about stuff that happens, including the falls, the bad days, and the rides I cut short. You deserve the real version so you can make your best decisions.
Slow is fine
I'm not fast. I've never been fast. The point is to be outside and moving, not to win anything.
No one gets left behind
Whether you're 65 or 80, whether you have a knee replacement or a bad hip, there's a way to do this. I want to help you find it.
